June, Remembered
Mixed media on panel
20" x 10"
A flower lingers in the haze of early summer, its head a tumble of saffron and soft orange petals with a small, cool heart of teal. Below, a pale green stem and broad leaves rise through a meadow of mint and lime, their edges traced in fine raised lines that shimmer like silver thread. The surface is soft and uneven, built up in thin veils and gentle ridges, with a few white petals drifting loose at the left. Mandie layered and pressed the paint, letting forms appear and fade as the materials settled. The result is tender and a little dreamy, the way a happy season feels when you carry it with you long after it has passed.
Tall and slender, it is perfect for the narrow wall between two windows, beside a doorway or in a powder room. Its saffron bloom and teal heart pair beautifully with terracotta, warm cream, rattan and a small vase of summer flowers.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
