Kindred Bodies
Mixed media on panel
24" x 24"
Four shapes gather across a soft, smoky field, each one with a personality of its own. A lime green form bristles with feathered edges at the upper left, a violet oval rests below it with the same brushy fringe, and on the right a tall pale blue figure pours downward, its top mottled with gray like weathered stone. Between them, a bright splash of yellow reaches out like an outstretched hand, linking them all. Behind, the sprayed ground glows in mustard and olive, with flecks of deep red scattered near the bottom. Mandie poured and dragged each form, then let the spray drift softly around them. The painting feels like a warm reunion, different bodies drawn together by something they share.
There is a sense of good company here, which makes it a natural choice for a dining nook, a family room, or an entryway where people gather. Pale gray walls, mixed ceramics, and a few rounded, sculptural pieces echo its friendly, conversational shapes.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
