Letting Go Gently
Mixed media on panel
48" x 24"
Four soft colors line up along the top edge: lavender, buttercup, spring green and a clear lagoon blue. From each one, slender drips descend across a calm pewter gray ground, some stretching almost the full length of the tall panel, others ending gently halfway down. The lines are clean and unhurried, spaced like the strings of a harp or the fall of light rain on a window. Faint brushwork moves beneath the gray like wind over water. Mandie released the colors from the top and simply let them go, trusting gravity to carry each one to its resting place. There is so much tenderness in the restraint, a feeling of loosening your grip and finding peace in the release.
Gentle and restful, it suits a bedroom, a bathroom or a quiet reading room. The pewter ground pairs nicely with soft gray walls and brushed nickel, while lavender towels, a pale green plant and natural light bring out its four soft colors.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
