Lifted
Mixed media on panel
30" x 30"
Out of a deep black night, a white form rises and spreads its arms. Long thin drips of crimson, gold, emerald, turquoise and violet stream down the dark ground like a rainbow dissolving into rain, every line bright and exact. The white shape stands in front of it all, broad and luminous, its arms trailing small drips of their own and its base softening into a pale glow. Mandie tipped the panel to let the color fall, then poured the white in a few confident moves, welcoming every place it ran. The effect is radiant and buoyant, light rising up out of darkness with grace.
Stand back and it fills the room; step close and its drips reveal every color. Lifted makes a powerful statement above a sofa, in an entry, or on a wall of its own, with black accents, ivory upholstery, and a few jewel toned cushions.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
