Light Rain
Mixed media on panel
36" x 12"
A soft, silvery morning, and color falling gently through it. Magenta, violet, cerulean, lime, yellow, orange and red descend side by side in long, slender streams, swaying slightly as they go, each one glossy and full, gathering into small pools and splashes at the bottom. Behind them, the ground is washed in pale blue spray with faint horizontal streaks, like mist drifting across a window. The lines are generous and calm, never rushed. Mandie poured them from the top edge and let them drift down unhurried, enjoying how each one wavered. The feeling is refreshing and tender, like the first light drops of a spring shower bringing everything back to life.
Living with this piece feels like opening a window on a soft, bright morning. Its slender format slips easily onto a stairwell landing, a bathroom wall, or the column between kitchen cabinets. Pale gray tile, polished chrome and a trailing pothos keep the mood fresh and clean.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
