Lost in Thought
Mixed media on panel
24" x 24"
Layer upon layer tangles together here, like thoughts crowding in on a long afternoon. Sprayed strokes fan out like palm fronds in mint, lemon and deep green across a ground of dusty plum and violet. Dark, gritty masses gather in the center and along the bottom, rough as volcanic earth, while threads of aqua splash and wander in every direction. In places the surface is creased and folded, as if a translucent sheet were pressed into the paint, leaving a fine grid and wrinkled edges behind. A soft coral glow warms the heart of it all. Mandie layered, sprayed and pressed without a plan, finding the image as she went. It is dense, dreamy and wonderfully absorbing.
For a study or a home office, few companions are better. Its layered greens reward a wandering eye between tasks. Deep green or warm cream walls, a leather chair, and shelves of books create the kind of room where thinking feels unhurried.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
