Missing Half
Mixed media on panel
24" x 6"
Two great shapes of cobalt blue hold the right side of the panel, one above, one below, with an open white space between them that feels like a breath held too long. Their edges burn with orange, gold and a flash of turquoise, as if something warm is still trying to reach across. A pale hollow opens in the upper form like a window or a wound. Down the left, red drips and a dotted line fall in a slow, steady rhythm, marking time. Mandie poured the blue in heavy pools and let it spread and stop on its own, leaving the gap untouched. The painting holds longing and hope together, the ache of something absent and the bright fire of waiting for it to return.
Meaningful and quietly striking, it suits a bedroom, a reading nook or a slim wall in a hallway. The cobalt and white feel crisp with pale gray walls and navy textiles, while the glowing orange edges pick up warmly in copper or brass.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
