Morning Comes Anyway
Mixed media on panel
36" x 36"
Sunlight floods the panel in a wash of lemon yellow, and nothing in the heavy sky can stop it. From above, streaks of navy, turquoise and violet run down in long drips like the last of the night letting go. A piece of white mesh, patterned like a honeycomb, clings to the top left corner, while a crumpled, sheeted mass of soft lilac and gray rests along the bottom like a stone or a hillside, its creases full of shadow and olive green. Mandie pressed, poured and sprayed these materials together, letting the drips and folds take their own course. It is a painting about resilience, about how light keeps returning no matter what the night has held.
The wall you see first each morning would be an ideal home, whether in a kitchen or a breakfast room. Its lemon yellow lifts a gray day, and feels crisp beside navy accents, simple painted cabinetry and a tall vase of sunflowers.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
