Night Crossing
Mixed media on panel
11" x 14"
A long dark shape glides across the center of the panel, low and steady like a boat moving over black water with no lights on board. Above and below, broken dashes of wine red mark the way like buoys, and lines of burnt orange run parallel, warm as embers on a distant shore. Two clean threads of neon yellow close the scene at top and bottom, bright as harbor lights. The pale ground is clouded with soft blue gray. Mandie poured the dark form in a single generous sweep and let its edges drip and trail behind it. It feels brave and hushed, a passage made in faith toward the other side.
Moody and mysterious, it suits a den, a study or a dark hallway lit by sconces. The wine red and burnt orange glow against black or deep navy walls, and they pair beautifully with leather club chairs, walnut and a touch of aged brass.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
