Night of Laughter
Mixed media on panel
30" x 24"
Late in the evening, when the stories get better and nobody wants to go home. A tall crimson figure rises on the left, dripping toward the floor, its base flushed with hot pink and orange. On the right, a ribbon of yellow tumbles down into swirling green brushwork and a deep cobalt mass. Between them, violet runs in long drips beneath a glowing pale orb, like a lamp left burning over the table. Lime and red specks scatter everywhere, bright as sparks from a good joke. Mandie let paint run, splash and pool freely, saying yes to every accident. It is warm, noisy and tender at once, the kind of night you carry with you for years.
Made for gathering, Night of Laughter belongs in a dining room, a bar area, or a den where friends linger late. Crimson velvet, dark wood, brass, and candlelight complete the scene and keep the conversation going long after dessert.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
