Opening Slowly
Mixed media on panel
12" x 4"
Four rounded forms open across this slender panel like petals unfolding in the morning light. Each one carries the coarse, woven texture of burlap pressed into the paint, its crosshatched grid filled with strokes of cobalt, cornflower and sky blue, while patches of sand and cream show where the color gives way. The surrounding ground is brushed in loose blue and white, the strokes thick and lively. Mandie pressed and layered the textured shapes, then swept color across them, letting the weave catch the paint in its own way. The piece feels fresh and gentle, like a flower greeting the day one petal at a time.
Delicate and petite, this slim panel fits on a narrow shelf, a windowsill or the small wall beside a bathroom vanity. Its cobalt and sky blues, pressed with woven texture, look charming with linen towels, white stoneware and a single bloom in a bud vase.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
