Ostinato II
Mixed media on canvas
24" x 24"
Against a dusky ground of maroon, navy and slate, dragged in long vertical strokes, a luminous shape of turquoise glows like a pool lit from beneath. It curves into a soft figure eight, its upper loop pierced by a small dark opening, its lower loop deep and rounded. Bands of coral pink, lemon and green ripple along its edges like a halo of heat, and its surface is speckled with tiny bubbles and lacy marbling. Mandie poured the form in one slow, generous gesture, letting it spread and settle on its own. The loop suggests something that circles back again and again, a steady refrain, and there is real comfort in its glowing, unbroken return.
Charcoal or oxblood walls, leather and brushed brass give this moody canvas the setting it deserves. It brings real depth to a dining room, a study or a cocooning den, where its turquoise core glows like a pool lit at night.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
