Ostinato X
Mixed media on panel
40" x 30"
Fire red and molten orange coil into a towering double loop, so densely poured that the color churns like lava or a blossoming poppy. Inside, the reds swirl into amber and burgundy, and toward the lower right the loop darkens to deep violet, its edges ragged and alive. Behind this blaze runs a calm ground of soft blue, mint and peach, combed with drips that trickle down from bands of yellow, pink and dark green at the top. The contrast between the heavy center and the airy background gives the piece tremendous presence. The loop grew in layer upon layer of pour, each one cascading over the last. It burns with passion and persistence.
Fiery and dramatic, it brings real heat to a dining room or a den. Try burgundy velvet, a dark walnut table and smoked brass, or set it against charcoal walls in a modern living room so its molten reds feel almost lit from within.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
