Passion
Mixed media on panel
36" x 36"
A blazing streak of orange and scarlet tears diagonally across the panel, splattered and speckled as if it burst through on its way past. On the left, washes of lemon and chartreuse glow over a cool gray ground, cracking into fine webs where the paint dried and pulled apart. In the upper right, a pale silver field carries a delicate dotted pattern, pressed into the surface like the imprint of a mesh. Small runs of amber and rust trickle toward the lower corner. Mandie threw down the fiery color in a single bold gesture and let it splash and spread where it wished. It is a painting of heat and devotion, all fire and feeling.
Give this one room to blaze. Above a low sofa or a dining sideboard, it brings real heat and energy to a living space. Cool gray walls, charcoal upholstery, and a few pieces of brass will let its orange and scarlet sing without competing.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
