Path of Lights
Mixed media on panel
30" x 24"
A road of glowing yellow beads runs diagonally through a pool of cobalt, each light soft and hazy, like lanterns spaced along a path at night. Dark granules gather along one edge like gravel at the roadside. Around this central form, the panel is divided into broad, simple fields: honey yellow, leaf green, lime, deep teal, and a corner where the natural wood grain shows through untouched. Mandie sprayed the line of light over the poured blue and scattered pigment by hand, letting it fall and settle as it chose. The effect is one of guidance and gentle certainty, the sense that each step forward will be lit.
Arriving home feels warmer with Path of Lights in the entry, a hallway, or a stairwell. Cobalt or ink walls, a pair of brass lanterns, and dark wood floors echo its glowing beads and lead the eye gently onward through the house.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
