Peace at Dusk
Mixed media on panel
18" x 24"
As the day softens, a wild little garden glows in shades of gold, chartreuse and moss. In the lower left, a large teal bloom spreads its spiky petals around a bright yellow heart, while a slender star-shaped flower rises on a long stem to the right. Patches of dark, grainy texture sit in the foliage like seeds or earth, and in the upper right, a white feather of paint swirls around a round, sandy disc, like a moon arriving early. A cool haze of blue spray drifts over the right side. Mandie poured, pressed and dusted the surface, letting the textures grow on their own. It is a tranquil, settling painting, the hush of an evening garden at rest.
In the evening, when the lamps come on, this little garden glows. It belongs in a reading corner or a bedroom, near moss green textiles, a terracotta pot, or a walnut side table, wherever you like to slow down at the end of the day.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
