Pure Happiness
Mixed media on panel
12" x 12"
Stripes of rainbow color stretch across a white ground, each one poured freehand and allowed to wander a little: lime green and cobalt at the edges, then violet, cherry red, tangerine and a fat, sunny ribbon of yellow at the center. The paint sits thick and glossy, studded with tiny bubbles and craters, and some lines swell into rounded ends while others trail off into a few loose dots. Nothing here is complicated, and that is its gift. Mandie let each color run and settle as it liked, and the result feels like laughter, easy and contagious.
It is hard to pass this one without smiling. Hang it in a kitchen, a playroom or a bright hallway that could use a burst of cheer. The rainbow stripes sing on white walls and pair nicely with simple oak, clear glass and colorful dishware.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
