Mixed media on panel
10" x 10"
Sunlight breaks loose and comes pouring down. Thick lemon yellow spills from the top edge in heavy, rounded runs, falling over a deep forest green like warm light dripping through leaves. On the left, a blaze of scarlet rises in raised, crinkled clumps, as if a flame had found its way into the woods and decided to stay. Between them, dark teal shows through in long, cool columns. Mandie loaded the panel with paint and let it slide, the yellow choosing its own speed and stopping wherever it pleased, leaving glossy ridges and soft pooled edges behind. It feels like the moment a held breath finally leaves the body, bright and free.
Sunny and generous, it brightens a kitchen, a breakfast nook or a shelf by the back door. The lemon, forest green and scarlet feel cheerful beside terracotta, potted herbs and woven rattan, bringing the warmth of a garden indoors even on the grayest winter mornings.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
