Restless Heart
Mixed media on panel
20" x 20"
Blush, peach, white and aqua are combed across the panel in tight horizontal ridges, a soft and orderly ground. But the calm does not last. Cobalt blue and olive green spill down from the top in loose, dripping curtains, while lemon yellow swirls and a flash of red press up through the middle. The drips run, branch and pool over the ridged surface, catching on every groove. Mandie dragged the textured ground first, then poured freely over it, never knowing how the colors would fall. It feels like a heart that cannot quite settle, tender and hopeful underneath, but always reaching for something more.
Soft at first glance and spirited up close, it makes a lively companion for a bedroom, a creative studio or a sunny hallway. Blush walls, a few aqua or olive accents and a touch of brass bring out both its calm, combed ground and its sudden bursts of energy.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
