Restless Warmth
Mixed media on panel
12" x 9"
Golden yellow ripples across the panel in combed ridges and sweeping arcs, as if heat itself were rising from the surface. Near the left, a crimson and violet form bursts forward, edged with a deep blue line, while a translucent sphere glows softly above it like a bubble caught in the sun. A trail of dark purple marks runs diagonally down through the gold, and a curve of rose and green arches overhead. The paint has been dragged and raked so it stands in fine ridges that catch the light. Mandie worked with energy and impatience, scraping, pouring and pulling until the surface felt alive. The painting buzzes with feeling, warm, eager and unable to stay still.
A spot of heat for a cool corner, Restless Warmth brightens a bookshelf, a bar cart, or a narrow wall in the hall. Its gold and crimson look rich beside walnut, brass, and a deep velvet chair, especially when lamps glow in the evening.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
