Running Free
Mixed media on panel
12" x 12"
Color breaks loose and runs on a long diagonal, from the bottom left corner to the top right. At the center, a blazing red stream carries little lacy pockets and bubbles across its surface, flanked on both sides by wide ribbons of orange that flare and fray into fine, cell-like patterns. Deep cobalt and indigo frame the rush at the edges, with thin lines of green and yellow tracing the borders. Up in one corner, a small pool of olive and gold has swirled into its own little world. Mandie poured and angled the panel steeply, letting gravity and speed take over. The whole piece pulses with freedom and fire, wild and glad to be alive.
Kept near a desk or in the kitchen, this energetic little canvas has a way of nudging the day along. Its blazing red current pops on a cool gray or deep green wall, and pairs well with black frames, copper pots and a few bright ceramics.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
