Serenade
Mixed media on panel
36" x 36"
Like a chord held long and sweet, color stacks and resonates across the canvas. Tall blocks of navy, lemon, teal, plum, violet and tangerine stand side by side along the top, and from them long drips fall like notes trailing into the air. A wash of peach spills over the middle columns, a bright band of chartreuse cuts across, and below, the rhythm softens into blocks of caramel, sky blue and gold. In the lower right, a white field dissolves into points of green that rise like tall grass. Mandie layered, sprayed and let the paint run, each drip finding its own length. The whole piece sings with warmth and devotion, a love song told in color.
Lyrical and warm, it suits a music room, a dining room or the wall above a piano. Plum or deep teal walls bring out its jewel tones, while peach linen, walnut and soft lamplight carry the gentle wash spilling through its lower half.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
