Shelter
Mixed media on panel
11" x 14"
Wrapped in a soft green glow, a rounded form rests on a deep charcoal ground like something tucked safely away. On its left, fresh lime and cobalt swirl in lively marbled waves, while the middle opens into creamy white tinged with blush, quiet and sheltering. To the lower right, the color warms into red, orange and a bright patch of lemon, threaded with tiny drips and cells. Small dark holes dot the pale surface like seeds, and the outer edge is rimmed with a firm line of cobalt. Mandie poured the colors together and sprayed the halo around them, letting the shape settle into its own protective curve. It feels safe and warm, like coming in from the cold.
Some rooms want to feel protected and calm, and this piece belongs there: a nursery, a bedroom or a quiet study. Soft green and charcoal suit sage walls, potted plants, oak and soft wool, building a cozy, sheltered feeling around it.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
