Simple Joys
Mixed media on panel
11" x 14"
In the upper right corner, a little cluster of cobalt gathers into a rough, sparkling texture, as if someone had tossed a handful of blue sand into the scene for fun. Below it, the painting relaxes into easy rhythms: broad pours of sunshine yellow paired with leafy green, a thin thread of tangerine, a line of deep wine red that breaks and picks up again, and navy dashes skipping along the top and bottom edges like stones across a pond. Mandie let her lines meander and overlap without fuss, enjoying where each one wandered. The whole piece hums with contentment, the gladness tucked inside ordinary days.
Everyday happiness is the theme, and this panel suits the everyday rooms: a kitchen, a laundry room or a sunny breakfast corner. Its cobalt and sunshine yellow feel cheerful with blue and white dishes, pale oak and a bowl of lemons on the counter.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
