Sleepless
Mixed media on panel
24" x 6"
It is late, and the mind will not settle. A dark column rises through the middle of the panel, rust and umber shading into deep indigo, its glossy surface crazed with fine cracks and gleaming specks like a night sky that cannot keep still. Arms of black reach out to the sides, restless. Around it, small bright thoughts flicker: looping yellow and orange scribbles at the top and bottom, a cool blue figure standing watch in the upper corner, a single pink dot, a flare of red at the base. Mandie poured and let the layers crack and shift as they dried, and the surprises gave the piece its pulse. It is honest about the long night, and still full of quiet light.
Night owls will appreciate it in a bedroom, a late-night study or a library corner. The rust, umber and indigo look rich against dark walls and glow beautifully under a single reading lamp, with leather, walnut and velvet completing the scene.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
