Slow Light
Mixed media on panel
36" x 24"
Pale bands of light slant across the panel the way late afternoon sun pours through a window and lies across the floor. Soft blue, periwinkle and slate alternate with blush, peach and cream, all blended by fine spray into a velvety, glowing haze. Here and there, small specks of color settle on the surface like dust in a sunbeam. At the left edge, a patch of ridged blue paint sits thick and textural, crossed by a few slender threads of gold that drip and wander. Mandie misted the color layer by layer, then let one bold, textured passage break the calm. The result is gentle and meditative, a small grace found in watching light move.
Hang it where afternoon sun already falls, perhaps a living room, a bedroom or a quiet sitting room. Its blush, peach and blue bands extend the light across the wall, and look graceful beside a linen sofa, pale oak and a few matte cream ceramics.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
