Small Harmony
Mixed media on panel
24" x 18"
In the middle of a quiet cream field, a small block of color stands like a little choir. Vertical strips of silver gray, rose red, tangerine, white, saffron, ochre, turquoise and cobalt line up side by side, their top edge stepping up halfway across like voices rising to a higher note. The paint was pressed and dragged into ridges, so each strip has a raised, ribbed surface that catches light and casts small shadows. Colors bleed softly where they meet, warm on the left, cool on the right. Mandie built the form by layering and pulling paint, letting each pass reveal what lay beneath. Surrounded by all that calm space, the piece feels balanced, gentle and deeply satisfying.
Quiet and composed, Small Harmony brings order and a little color to a study, a hallway, or a kitchen wall. It looks especially refined against warm plaster, alongside clean lined oak furniture, a stack of books, and a single ceramic vessel.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
