Small Mercies
Mixed media
6" x 6"
Beneath a clear, glossy surface, hundreds of tiny pieces drift together like a snow globe that has just settled. Little plastic beads in rose, lime, lilac, coral and sky blue mingle with soft white pearls, some packed tightly, some scattered in open pockets. The colors shift gently from a richer mix on the left to a lighter, almost frosted drift on the right. A frame of bold cobalt blue, brushed and slightly worn, holds the scene like a little window. Mandie poured resin over the loose pieces and let them float into place. Tiny as it is, it holds a big feeling of gratitude for life's quiet kindnesses.
Pocket sized and full of delight, Small Mercies can rest on a window ledge, a nightstand, or a tiny wall in the bath. Soft pastels, a bud vase, and a few smooth stones make a sweet still life around it that changes with the seasons.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
