Small Prayer
Mixed media on panel
36" x 12"
A tall, narrow panel holds a quiet blaze of light. Soft lemon and cream glow at the top, and from them a deep cerulean blue rises in a towering shape, its upper edge broken like the silhouette of an old cathedral or a stand of trees at dawn. Through the blue, a gentle green-yellow light drifts downward, and near the bottom the surface sparkles with fine white specks like stars or falling snow. The texture is rich and layered: crackled patches, a delicate honeycomb pattern pressed into the paint, and sprayed color settling into every crevice. Mandie layered, pressed and sprayed until the surface felt like an old wall full of stories. It is hushed, humble and full of hope.
Tall and slender, Small Prayer fits beautifully in the places other art cannot: beside a doorway, between two windows, or at the turn of a stairwell. Warm plaster and a slim console below, or a single tall plant beside it, let its blue rise quietly.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
