Something Passing Through
Mixed media on panel
16" x 16"
Across a calm sea of cobalt and turquoise, a dark, cloudlike shadow drifts through the middle of the panel, and inside it a ribbon of champagne gold winds and splashes like a stream of light passing through the night. Tiny droplets of gold scatter around the line, and a small touch of lime glows beneath it like a hidden spark. The blues are sprayed and softly layered, while the gold sits raised and glossy, poured in one quick, unbroken gesture. Mandie let the line travel where it wanted, enjoying the spatters and breaks it made along the way. It is a fleeting, beautiful moment caught before it moves on.
Square and calm, this piece suits a desk wall, the space above a console, or a quiet corner of a bedroom. Its cobalt and gold glow beautifully against navy or warm plaster, and a brass picture light would make the gold ribbon shimmer after dark.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
