Still, After Midnight
Mixed media on panel
16" x 12"
This is the hour when the house is asleep and the mind finally goes quiet. Deep teal pours down the panel in long, slow columns, gathering at the top in a heavy, velvet darkness, then softening as it falls. A single thread of burgundy runs through the left side like a memory that will not quite fade. Look closely and the surface catches the light in tiny ridges and flecks, as if the night itself were breathing. Mandie tilted the panel and let gravity finish the work, each drip choosing its own length and path, and the result feels unhurried, private and deeply calm.
This is a painting for the quiet corners of a home: a bedroom, a study, a hallway lit by a single lamp. Its dark tones look especially beautiful against warm white or soft gray walls, and it rewards anyone who stops long enough to look.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
