Street Hymn
Mixed media on panel
24" x 24"
Somewhere between a city wall and a song, this panel hums with rhythm. Bright yellow strokes dance across the top like lettering in a language of pure feeling, while coral lines loop and stride through the middle as if someone were singing with their whole body. The ground melts from ochre to chartreuse to sky blue, and a crusted cobalt cloud sits in the upper corner. Below, a heavy black mass rolls in, its surface ridged and combed, patched with glowing lime. Mandie worked with fast, unguarded gestures and let the drips and spills keep their own voice. It feels raw and soulful, praise rising out of grit.
Urban and musical, Street Hymn adds rhythm to a loft, a studio, or a home office with an artistic bent. Exposed brick, black metal, and warm oak suit it well, and a turntable or a stack of records nearby would feel right at home.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
