Sunday Drive
Mixed media on panel
12" x 12"
Roll down the window and let the colors stream by. A wide sweep of red, tangerine and gold slants up the panel from lower left to upper right, flanked by soft green ribbons and two short, steady bars of indigo at opposite corners. The red heart is pocked with little dimples and glossy beads, while the oranges and yellows break into lacy, freckled patterns at their edges. Tiny drops of red and green scatter loose along the way, and the white ground shows a delicate crackle in one corner. Mandie poured in a single long gesture and lifted one edge to send it gliding. It has the easy, sunlit feeling of an unhurried afternoon and nowhere you need to be.
Who would not want a little Sunday feeling on a Monday? Prop it on a desk, a bookshelf or an entry console, where its red and tangerine sweep brings a carefree mood. Rattan, olive green accents and a vintage road map make playful companions.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
