Thaw of the Heart
Mixed media on panel
24" x 6"
Color loosens and begins to flow, as if something frozen were warming at last. Along the top, short streams of indigo, cerulean, lime, apricot and red drip downward and stop, still finding their way. Lower down they gather again with more confidence: blue marbled with teal and navy, ribbons of soft green, thin orange lines that loop and swing, and a final mark of scarlet. Small droplets scatter across the pale, blue-misted ground like melting frost. Mandie poured in two moments and let gravity do the softening. It feels tender and hopeful, a heart slowly opening to the warmth of spring.
Hopeful and quietly emotional, it would be lovely in a bedroom, a hallway or a sunny reading spot near the window. The indigo, apricot and lime pair well with soft blue or cream walls, trailing plants and light wood furniture.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
