The Last Warm Day
Mixed media on panel
10" x 10"
Three bold bands stand shoulder to shoulder like the last stripes of a summer flag: cobalt blue, a fiery scarlet and a clean, sunny yellow, each dripping down over a cool green ground. The red at the center is the most alive, cracked and crusted, flecked with burnt orange and copper, opening here and there to reveal teal and black beneath like embers still glowing. The blue and yellow fall smoothly in long, glossy runs. Mandie poured each color and let gravity pull it into place, welcoming the crackle and texture that formed as the layers dried. It carries that golden ache of a season ending, full of warmth and a little longing.
Bright and nostalgic, it adds a lively accent to a study, a playroom or a kitchen shelf. The cobalt, scarlet and sunny yellow look sharp against crisp pale walls and pair well with mid-century furniture, colorful book spines and a vintage radio or two.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
