The Long Way Home
Mixed media on panel
12" x 12"
A ribbon of color winds across the panel on a gentle diagonal: scarlet first, then coral, then a broad path of sunny yellow edged with a thin band of mint. Below it, cobalt rushes in like water, breaking into white foam and lavender swirls in the lower corner, its surface freckled with small cells and bubbles. At the edges, the bare gray ground shows through, quiet as a road seen from above. Mandie tipped the panel and let the paint travel at its own pace, each layer curving and spilling wherever gravity led it. It feels like every bend and detour on the way back to the people you love, and how sweet it is to finally arrive.
A small wall near the front door is a lovely home for this warm, winding panel, a welcome sight each time you come in. Its scarlet, yellow and mint pair nicely with oak, a woven runner and a few framed photographs of places you love.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
