Two Sides of Me
Mixed media on panel
14" x 11"
Two different moods share this panel, side by side. On the left, a vivid blur of tomato red, tangerine, acid lime and deep navy swirls together, warm and restless, like a sunset seen through rain. On the right, a cool veil of charcoal gray, laced with fine fibers like tissue or spider silk, softens everything into hush and shadow, ending in a narrow strip of pale silver. The seam between them is crisp and clear. Mandie layered the bright paint first, then laid the delicate, fibrous sheet over part of it, allowing glimpses to show through. It is an honest portrait of how passion and quiet can live together in one heart.
A small piece with a big personality, Two Sides of Me sits happily on a desk, a dresser, or a gallery wall. Tomato red and navy accents nearby play off its warm and cool halves, a reminder that every home holds both.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
