Undercurrent
Mixed media on canvas
40" x 30"
Beneath the surface, life is moving. Rich cobalt and deep teal swirl through the center of the canvas, carrying small white rings that drift like bubbles or watchful eyes rising from the depths. Clouds of raspberry and crimson bloom along the edges, warm against the cool blue, while pale cream glows between them. The border is sandy and glittering, edged with clear glossy ridges like water drying on a shore. Mandie layered these colors wet into wet and let them move against each other, the cells and rings forming on their own as the colors met. Mysterious and deeply alive, it evokes the hidden pull beneath a calm sea.
Quiet evenings are when this canvas truly comes alive. Give it a den, a library or a bedroom with teal walls, then add crimson velvet and a brass reading lamp to heighten its rich, moody sense of hidden movement.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
