Untamed
Mixed media on panel
36" x 24"
A river of bright yellow surges diagonally across the panel, and from it rises a form of tangerine and deep plum that seems to stretch its wings, proud and a little wild. Small creatures of color scatter around it: a green and cobalt shape near the top, a trail of teal and maroon tumbling off toward the lower corner, dark specks flying loose like seeds in the wind. Behind them, soft hazy blocks of sky blue, coral, peach and lime glow through a misty veil of spray. Mandie worked with abandon and let each puddle spread, overlap and dry into its own shape. It feels free spirited and joyfully unruly, life refusing to be tamed.
Bold and a little wild, it gives a playful kick to a teen's room, a creative office or a modern kitchen. Pair it with plum accents, a mustard armchair and simple shelving, and let its bright yellow river carry the eye across the room.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
