Washed Ashore
Mixed media on panel
24" x 6"
The tide has gone out and left its treasures behind. Pale crusted forms in ivory and sand cling to the top and bottom of the panel, crackled and pitted like shells or sea foam dried in the sun. Between them, everything drifts: a blue ribbon curling down the left edge, dotted trails of green and butter yellow, a fine red line, and on the right a dark wave of burgundy and umber breaking into ripples. Fine spray mists the pale blue ground like salt air. Mandie let the materials crack, separate and settle as they wished, and the piece feels like a walk along the shore at dawn, quiet, curious and full of small discoveries.
Beachcombers will love it in a seaside cottage, a bathroom or a bedroom decorated with found treasures. The ivory and sand tones look lovely with shells, driftwood, linen and pale blue accents, bringing the calm of a quiet shoreline indoors.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
