Whirlwind
Mixed media on panel
48" x 48"
Color spins in a great vortex at the heart of the panel: cobalt sweeping in heavy arcs, with flecks of tangerine, scarlet, chartreuse and gold caught up inside like leaves in a storm. A single bright lime line swings out and around, tracing the path of the wind. Behind the spiral, drips of amber, aqua, emerald and sky blue run down in tall columns, while splatters fly outward in every direction. The surface is rich with texture, from thick glossy swirls to fine speckled spray. Mandie moved in quick, circling gestures and let the momentum carry the paint further than she planned. It is a joyful tempest, full of energy and color in motion.
Navy walls, chartreuse accents and gold hardware amplify the swirl of this energetic canvas. Give it a large living room, a creative office or a dramatic stairwell, with enough open space around it to let the vortex breathe.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
