Wildfire
Mixed media on panel
16" x 12"
A bright flare of orange erupts in the heart of a dense green field, threaded with lines of yellow that race through it like sparks catching on dry grass. Above, a heavy stroke of lemon sweeps across the top, while teal and turquoise drip downward in long ridged curtains. The surface is thick and churning, full of marbled cells, swirls and peaks where the layers pushed against one another. Behind it all, a deep cobalt sky softens into glowing yellow at the edges, washed in by spray. Mandie poured and dragged the paint in bold passes and let the fiery color travel where it wanted. It is a painting of heat and renewal, fierce yet strangely beautiful.
Charcoal or forest green walls will make this orange flare blaze even brighter. Give it a den, a study or a modern kitchen, and let copper, leather and dark wood heighten its dramatic, glowing energy without competing for attention.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
