Wishing on Stars
Mixed media on panel
30" x 24"
Yellow spills across the lower half of the panel like a scatter of glowing wishes. Bubbles and dots of lemon and gold float upward through a turquoise haze, while a deep teal and moss green pour stretches diagonally through the center, edged in rust and coral at its lower tip. In the upper corners, a small crackled yellow oval glows like a lantern and a silvery orb shines beside soft rings of green and blue. Streaks of cobalt fall at an angle across the top left, like the trails of shooting stars. Mandie poured, sprayed and let the colors bloom and pop on their own, every bubble a little surprise. The painting sparkles with childlike hope and wonder.
Bright and buoyant, this is a painting for a sunny kitchen, a breakfast nook, or a family room where the day begins. Pale turquoise or warm white walls, rattan chairs, and plenty of greenery let its lemon and gold feel like a standing invitation to hope.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
