A Single Pearl
Mixed media on panel
24" x 24"
Across a wide field of smoky olive gray, one small, luminous form rests just right of center: a thick pool of pearly white paint, folded and ridged, its surface catching light like the inside of a shell. Fine trailing lines loop above it and drift away, delicate as threads of silk, while faint drips and soft shadows stir in the gray beneath. Everything else is calm. Mandie poured the white and let it gather and wrinkle as it dried, then drew those wandering lines with a light, almost careless hand. The painting has the hush of early morning and the joy of finding something precious exactly where you did not expect it.
Quietly elegant, this painting brings a hush to a bedroom, a study or a minimalist living room. Its olive gray and pearly white tones look beautiful with warm stone, oak, soft brass and a single cream ceramic, creating a serene and refined setting.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
