After the Storm
Mixed media on panel
24" x 6"
Calm has returned, and the sky is full of color. Broad bands of red, warm apricot, sunny yellow, fresh green, cobalt and violet stack softly down the panel, their edges gently waving into one another like light spreading after rain. Through the middle, a stream of bright blue falls from top to bottom, breaking into drops and small pools that glint against the smooth bands behind. It reads like the last of the rain still trickling down, or a path drawn straight through the promise. Mandie laid the colors in soft layers, then poured the blue and let it trace a path straight down. The feeling is pure relief, fresh and full of grace.
After a hard season, it is a joy to come home to. Hang it in an entryway, a kitchen or a bright hallway where the colors greet you each day. The full rainbow looks wonderful with white walls, light oak and simple, uncluttered furnishings.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
