Allegretto
Mixed media on panel
14" x 11"
Bright and light on its feet, this little painting moves like a cheerful tune. Sweeps of chartreuse, lemon, lime green and soft lavender stream diagonally across the panel, brushed and poured in quick, lively bands. Along the bottom, a raised, glossy line of clear medium loops and curls in a playful dance, catching the light like a ribbon twirling in the breeze. Tiny flecks and speckles scatter across the color fields. Mandie let the colors slide across the panel at an angle, then drew the swirling line freely, following only her instinct. The result feels sunny, buoyant and full of springtime cheer.
Light on its feet and full of spring, it would brighten a kitchen, a laundry room or a home office that needs a lift. The chartreuse and lavender look fresh with white cabinetry, pale wood and a few potted herbs on the windowsill.

Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
