Around the Bend
Mixed media on panel
20" x 10"
Like a river seen from above as it curves out of sight, bands of color sway gently down the panel. Golden yellow and pale cream glow down the center, held between currents of red, orange, cobalt and indigo that bend and swell along their way. Out at the edges, wide shapes of deep teal spread like riverbanks, opening onto small islands of white. Look closely and the borders are alive with fine marbling, tiny cells and golden threads. Mandie poured and rocked the panel slowly, letting each color travel and curve on its own. The feeling is one of expectant calm, the quiet hope of not quite knowing what waits on the far side, and trusting it is good.
Gentle and flowing, this slim panel feels lovely in a hallway, a powder room or beside a window where daylight shifts through the hours. Golden yellow and cream glow against warm plaster, with oak, woven textures and smooth river stones nearby.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
