Before It Blooms
Mixed media on canvas
36" x 36"
On the right, a tall form gathers itself, built from thick, ridged strokes of cornflower, rose, cream and pale gold that rise like petals still folded tight. Its texture is almost sculptural, layered and pulled so every crest catches the light. To the left, the world is warmer and looser: translucent veils of saffron and ochre, a deep burgundy drip running down, a column of blue, and glossy runs of clear medium that shine like rain on glass. Mandie built the surface layer by layer, scraping and pressing and letting drips fall where they wanted. The whole painting hums with the energy of something about to happen, tender, patient and quietly expectant.
Side light is its best friend, revealing every folded crest of cornflower, rose and pale gold. Bring it into a bedroom, a dressing room or a soft sitting area, with rose velvet, cream boucle and a few gilded accents to keep the romance going.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
