Blue Tide Rising
Mixed media on panel
24" x 6"
Cobalt blue surges up the left side of this narrow panel in wide, swelling shapes, broken here and there by openings of white like foam on an incoming wave. Beside it, a band of pale aqua glows softly, followed by slim lines of lemon, tangerine and red that waver and drip, giving way to the rising blue. Small drops trail from the red, scattered like spray. The surfaces are glossy and smooth, with a little marbling where orange meets yellow. Mandie poured the blue generously and let it spread and pool however it liked. It carries the calm, gathering power of the sea coming in, unstoppable and somehow comforting.
Coastal and fresh, it would be lovely in a beach house hallway, a bathroom or a bedroom with a sea view. Cobalt and aqua look crisp with white walls, navy stripes and natural wood, while the warm lines add a hint of sunset.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
