Burning Slowly
Mixed media on panel
24" x 18"
Warm amber light glows across the whole panel, soft and sprayed like the last hour before sunset. Two poured forms drift through it, swirls of lemon and coral edged with scarlet, marbled and glossy like molten glass. Between them run two diagonal seams of dark, gritty texture, maroon and charcoal, rough to the eye like embers still smoldering. The contrast is quietly dramatic: liquid, luminous color beside crusted, earthy lines. Mandie poured, tilted and pressed coarse material into the surface, letting heat and texture find their own balance. The result is patient and passionate at once, a fire that does not rush but never goes out.
Warm as the last hour of a summer day, it is at its best in rooms that come alive in the evening. Hang it in a dining room or a living area lit by lamps, and let terracotta, cognac leather and brass draw out its amber glow.

The Collections
Pigment breaks loose across the surface, feathered forms climbing through bands of color, caught in the instant before they open all the way.
Paint falls in continuous vertical streams, layer over layer, color caught mid-descent before it ever reaches the ground.
At the edge of the visible world, resin, pigment powders, and luminous forms suggest planetary landscapes no one has named yet.
Immediate, unguarded and alive. Color erupts, gestures cut across fields of pattern, painting as a way of releasing what words cannot hold.
Burlap, plaster, and mixed media hold the memory of surfaces worn by time, artifacts of a history that was never written down.
Pigment flows in channels across white ground, color finding its own path the way water finds a bed to run through.
Pigment pools and cracks across the surface, veined like a lakebed or a membrane, ground still settling into its shape.
